Michigan’s 10th Congressional District

Incumbent Republican John James was elected in 2022 in one of the closest races in the nation — winning by just 1,600 votes. Weak turnout was a big reason why. This year, James can be defeated if Democratic constituencies turn out at high levels and non-affiliated voters also break against him. Blue Tent has identified two groups working to engage, persuade, and mobilize voters in MI-10 that donors should support:

Michigan People's Campaign is the largest community organizing group in the state. It has a strong record of fieldwork in MI-10, using data-driven strategies that include canvassing, relational organizing, phone banking, and digital outreach. In 2022, MPC reached out to more than 1.5 million voters, knocked over 200,000 doors, and helped usher in the first Democratic trifecta in Michigan in over 40 years. MPC is working now to put in place the capacity needed to engage and turn out voters in MI-10.

MI 10th Democratic Congressional District is a political action committee dedicated to supporting Democratic candidates in the district. It is part of the Michigan Democratic Party, one of the most effective state parties in the nation. The committee's work in MI-10 includes registering voters, community outreach — especially in areas with low voter turnout — working with unions and organizing groups, sponsoring events to get out vote, and investing in ads.
