New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District
Biden easily carried this district in 2020. But in 2022, Republican Tom Kean, Jr. won here by under 10,000 votes — in an election where over 300,000 eligible voters didn’t participate. To win in NJ-7 this year, and hold the district going forward, Democrats need to do a better job of turning out base voters and also persuading unaffiliated voters.
People’s House recommends that donors support two groups working to flip NJ-7: Action Together New Jersey works year-round to educate, engage, and empower voters in New Jersey. It has a long history of working in NJ-7 and a strong plan to help defeat Kean. ATNJ’s activities include recruiting volunteers to register voters; helping people vote by mail; and running phone and texting banks for GOTV — especially to turn out young voters. Make the Road New Jersey is a grassroots organizing group with deep roots in communities that is focusing on turning out Latino and new citizen voters.
