New York’s 4th Congressional District

Biden won this district in 2020 by more than 14 points and a Democrat has a strong chance of defeating Republican Anthony D’Esposito to win in NY-4 in 2024. Nearly half of the district’s population is Asian, Black, or Latino. But many of these citizens don’t vote regularly and Esposito won in 2022 in a low-turnout election. Registering and engaging key Democratic constituencies in NY-4 requires strong grassroots organizing and get-out-the-vote work.

To flip NY-4, People’s House recommends that donors support Battleground New York, a new effort that unites leading organizing groups in the state for an unprecedented push to turn out voters across competitive NY districts this fall. The groups behind this push include the Working Families Party, Indivisible, Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts, and 1199 SEIU. Together, these organizations plan to mount a powerful field program that reaches tens of thousands of voters in GOP-held swing districts: NY-4, NY-17, NY-19, and NY-22.
